new hair color and barely there makeup

Winter break from school for over a month with nothing to do means I get bored a lot. Which means I'll do things like dye my hair for fun.

I recently downloaded Lana Del Rey's revised edition of her album Born to Die. She looks amazing on the cover. The music is amazing: I particularly like American, Cola, and Blue Velvet.

I was bored, and I have a total girl crush on her.  So I had a sudden impulse to go to Target and buy hair dye. I decided to dye my hair so it'd be a gorgeous strawberry-gold brown color like hers. Here's how it turned out, plus my FOTD.

It turned out a little darker than I wanted, but I am definitely not gonna try to lighten it at home! Oh well. It's still a light auburn, and I love it. Another plus, my MUFE Aqua Brow shade will not make me look like a makeup newbie who can't choose the correct shade anymore ;)

How does my hair look? Am I a good red/auburn head? Thanks for looking!

birthday fotd

Hi everyone! My birthday was last weekend. Unfortunately, Christian is stuck in Camp Pendleton so I spent the day with my family. We went to a quaint little seaside town north of San Fransisco (Sausalito).

My local nail polish supply started selling Nubar. I think I pissed my pants when I saw the display.

celebrity inspired look: lana del rey

Have you guys heard of Lana Del Rey? If you read music magazines, watch Saturday Night Live, or hell, even go on Yahoo, you've probably heard of her. Opinions of her are mixed. I'm one of the rare people who absolutely love her. Regardless of what her music sounds like (which I do enjoy!), I think she is one of the most glamourous, sexy, and iconic celebrities out there. If I could reinvent myself, I'd be Clara Del Rey. Okay, maybe not, but still....

I was inspired by this photo of her - she looks absolutely glowy and summery. God. I just want to be her.

tutorial: a very special request

Csilla from Hungary contacted me a while ago. She got engaged before Christmas, and is planning to get married in August. Csilla asked me if I could make a tutorial for her wedding makeup: a natural look with some purple. Here's my take on her request. Enjoy! :)

Used:
face-
Maybelline concealer
translucent powder
Azalea Blossom
Vanilla pigment

eyes-
NYX Milk
Soft Brown
Brule
Vanilla pigment
Espresso
Yogurt
Beautiful Iris
Satin Taupe
Maybelline One by One mascara
Salon Perfect Stunning lashes

lips-
Rimmel East End Snob l/l
Patisserie

1. Start with eyebrows and base.

2. Soft Brown in the crease and outer lid.

3. Brule on the lid.

4. Light dusting of Vanilla pigment over Brule.

5. Espresso on outer corners.

6. I use Yogurt with Vanilla pigment over it as my highlight.

7. Soft Brown & Espresso go on the lower lash line, with Satin Taupe as liner. I also used Benefit It Stick on my waterline. Beautiful Iris is in the corners.

8. I then do my face. I chose Azalea Blossom beacuse it has lilac in it, to go along with the purple theme.

9. A glow is a must for your wedding! For my highlight, I used Vanilla pigment on my cheek bones and the bridge of my nose.

10. Mascara

11. Some special lashes- these have gems on them!

12. And we can't forget the perfect wedding day nude lips!

Fairly easy look, no? :)

Congratulations to Csilla!

Thanks for looking, and have a great weekend!
